It’s A Photoshoot …
THIRTY-WON!
As many of you probably have already seen from my Instagram page, for my 31st birthday I did a birthday photoshoot. There was not any real rhyme or reason as to why I wanted to do a photoshoot. I mainly wanted updated photos for the blog but also something to keep for myself. I am really big on having pictures and preserving memories with just about anything I do, so being able to take a moment to admire the woman I am and have become is a blessing. I think going forward, I will probably do a photoshoot every year as a keepsake for when I am old and grey.
My inspiration for these photos was a photo I had seen of Kelly Rowland earlier this year.
Here are the details of the photoshoot.
What I Wore? - Outfit - A black tuxedo jacket and matching tuxedo pants from Zara Shoes - Christian Louboutin, So Kate 120mm
I wanted a nice sleek look because I knew the photos were going to be in black and white. In the event I did not like the black and white photos I wanted an outfit that looked good in color and/or in black and white.
Hair? - Beauty Bar International - Union, NJ. Hairstylist: Hugie. I have been going to Beauty Bar International since about 2012 after I graduated from college. I have specifically been going to Hugie for about 3 years now. Hugie is known for his fire short cuts but he also specializes in sew-ins, wigs, natural hairstyles, color, and so much more. I really only trust Hugie with my hair.

Make-Up? Mak-up By Alaya. Alaya is a traveling MUA based out of New Jersey. This is my second time working. Alaya is always on sweet, on time and professional. She is always able to do the look I am aiming for. I like very natural make-up looks and she always is able to achieve just that. Alaya always makes sure I am happy with the end result.

Photographer? - Miles. Miles is a photographer who is based out of Brooklyn. Miles is willing and able to travel outside of Brooklyn to Manhattan and other boroughs as well as New Jersey. Miles was on time, patient and very professional. He was able to bring the vision to life through his photography.
Location? - I booked a space in Brooklyn through Splacer. Splacer is a website where you can book spaces or venues for upcoming events typically charging a flat fee or by the hour. The space I booked was located in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn. The space host was Jenny. Jenny was super nice and accommodating. Her space provided a backdrop (with whatever color you needed), additional photography equipment, a kitchenette area, bathroom, and a sitting couch area (pictured in some of my photos). I definitely would recommend if you need a photoshoot space.

Creative Direction? Branding with Moe. Branding with Moe is a business branding and social media agency company. The company specializes in business development, social media management, business promotion, coaching/brainstorm sessions, start up business plans, and much more. Although I had Kelly Rowland’s picture as inspiration, I still wanted to make sure the photoshoot was what I had envisioned. Branding with Moe was able to keep the creative energy juices flowing for the photographer and I. Branding with Moe was able to suggest ideas and poses for the photoshoot that I would not have been able to just come up with myself.
